Blood in the water, but the Shadow keep swimming into 8 game home stretch
The Shadow faced adversity on the road this weekend at Waterford, dressing a short bench on the blue line and asking a few forwards to slide back and help out defensively. While the effort was there, the unfamiliar roles led to a few costly mistakes that the Waterford Sharks were quick to capitalize on.
The Sharks jumped out to a 2–0 lead early, but the Michigan Shadow showed resilience, answering back late in the period to head into the first intermission down just one, 2–1.
Waterford came out flying in the second, striking twice in quick succession. The Shadow pushed back with a goal of their own to make it 4–2, but the Sharks added another shortly after. A goaltending change brought Elijah Gibbons into the crease, and he delivered—turning aside 29 of 30 shots and shutting the door entirely in the third period to give the Shadow a chance to claw back.
Despite a strong final push, the comeback fell just short, with the Sharks skating away with a 5–3 win and taking over first place in the league at 13-3-1.
